Belief Heworth Christian Fellowship believe that Jesus is the divine Son of God who was sent to die for us and rose again so that, by repentance, we may be forgiven our sins. We believe in the trinity, the Godhead of The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that until Jesus returns to judge the world, the Holy Spirit will guide and empower Christians to live closer to God's will. We believe in the Bible as God's word, and the final authority in all Christian teaching and practise. We practise believer's baptism and bless children. We do not have a hierarchy of leadership outside the Fellowship. We currently have a team of elders in leadership and are fortunate to have many people in the Fellowship who assist in many different ways. We are affiliated to the Evangelical Alliance. We feel that the fellowship is currently called to serve the community in the East of Gateshead through low-key evangelism, youth work and community projects across a range of backgrounds and age groups. Mission We believe that Scripture has given us the foundation of our purpose and calling in the Great Commandment and the Great Commission:
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them
to obey everything I have commanded you. Love for God Where we worship God together and build our lives around the truths found in the Bible, and so underpin our discipleship; where, with Christ at the centre of what we do, we learn to listen to God, grow in faith and encourage each other as we celebrate the reality and relevance of the presence of Jesus in our lives today. Love for each other Where Church is family and community, a place where we can be honest and authentic as we share lives together and journey in faith; where people are cared for and listened to; where tears and laughter, fellowship and forgiveness sit alongside the everyday details of lives shared; where love is paramount as we work together to serve God and each other. Love for others Where we bring Jesus into our local communities, serving the needs we meet; where we recognise and confront injustice and stand up for those who are weak and hurting; where the love of God flows through us to reach and bless those who don’t yet know Him; where, through the words we speak and the way we act, the Good News about Jesus is proclaimed and disciples are made.
